2017-02-21 Managers Report

These past few weeks have started off with a Bang! There is a lot happening in and around the Club, so jump on board and get involved!!!

•    On 29th January we saw our Juniors dominate the KZN field at the Champs held at North Beach. Well done to competitors, organisers & Admin for hosting a brilliant champs. Congratulations to Connor Botha, Tammy Mc Kie and Aston Lawson for winning competitor of the event in their respective age groups.

•    Last week Durban Surf provided the Water Safety for the aQuelle Midmar Mile, well done to all the lifesavers who patrolled at the World’s Largest inland Swimming event. Thank you to everyone who assisted and congratulations to all the competitors who took part.
•    KZN Nippers has tentatively been postponed to the 4th/5th March, more correspondence will follow.
•    SA Champs for both Juniors/Seniors and Nippers is just around the corner, ensure you are attending all the training sessions, maintaining your health and finalising the logistics around the respective events.
•    Friday 24th February at 17.30 is our monthly Club Night, come on down join in the festivities and have a great evening.

•    On Sunday mornings while the nippers are training Jody Carlson is offering Yoga classes to all members in the Des Collopy Hall from 8am to 9am. All donations go towards fundraising. For more info please contact Jody 082 319 7413.
•    Waterpolo fundraiser for SA Nipper Champs will be taking place on Sunday 12th March 2017 at Northwood High School, to enter please contact secretary@durbansurf.co.za more details on our website www.dslc.co.za or on our notice board.

•    Congratulations to the following members on their selection for KZN Lifesaving Team to compete at SA Champs on the 29th March in Camps Bay.

•    Surf Board Racks are still being abused, there are a lot of boards in the office please collect them within the next 2 weeks otherwise they will be sold to defray costs.

2016-11-16 Managers Report


This past weekend we saw the Juniors and Seniors in action at Umhlanga, well done to all those who competed. There was also a Stillwater gala at Kingspark Pool, not a very large turnout from the Juniors and Seniors. The next KZN Stillwater gala will take place on 5 February 2016.

This coming weekend we have our nipper examinations taking place, please make sure you communicate with the nipper admin moms for the various age groups.

On Friday 25th November we will have our 2nd Club Night, all are welcome to join in. There will be a Build your own burger special at Crow Café as well as the Chairman’s race of choice.

On Saturday 10th December Durban Surf will be hosting the annual 25 Piers, please ensure you get your entries in with either myself or Sandra.

Statements will be sent out monthly going forward, please make sure all outstanding fees have been paid to avoid defaulters being put on the notice board.

All new applications will now need to be proposed and seconded by an existing members. Applications without a proposer and seconder will have to be ratified by the executive committee.

Durban Surf will be doing a Christmas collection of any old clothing, shoes and swimming equipment for needy, all these items can be dropped off during office hours.

All members using the garage please ensure that the door is closed when leaving the garage.

In the next week or so we will be launching our new website, it will be a more comprehensive website where all the relevant forms/information can be downloaded.
